Caulders Marks Major Milestone with Opening of Tenth Garden Centre in Linlithgow

Family-owned Caulders Garden Centres has opened its tenth location in Scotland, marking a significant achievement for the business founded by Colin and Mandy Barrie.

The new site in Linlithgow follows an investment of over £1 million and joins an established network of garden centres in Mugdock, Kirkintilloch, Newton Mearns, Erskine, Cupar, Cumbernauld, Kinross, Loch Lomond and Hetland.

Described by the company as a “milestone” moment, the Linlithgow venue has undergone an extensive refurbishment and now offers a full garden centre experience. Customers can expect a wide selection of plants, gardening essentials, homeware and gifts, along with a strong focus on hospitality.

Colin Barrie commented: “When we started Caulders, we never imagined we’d one day reach ten locations. This is a testament to the hard work of our team and the loyalty of our fantastic customers. We’re especially grateful to Virgin Money, whose support has helped us invest significantly in the Linlithgow site to ensure it meets modern garden retail expectations.”

The expansion comes on the back of a strong year for the business, which employs over 450 people and reported a turnover of more than £20 million in 2024. Profits before tax rose by nearly 10%, and the company took home the award for Best Customer Service at The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards last November.

Mandy Barrie added: “Caulders has always been about creating an experience that combines gardening inspiration with a warm, family-friendly environment. We’re delighted to bring this ethos to Linlithgow.”

Virgin Money’s commercial director of strategic finance, Jim Wales, said: “Caulders’ success is well-earned and well-deserved. Their focus on quality, community and customer service aligns perfectly with our values, and we’re proud to have supported them on their journey.”
